"PARTY TIME" -primary school dr. Ljudevita Pivka Ptuj,Slovenia

PARTY TIME
Pupils from the PPVI5, PPVI6, seventh and eighth grades were included. The selection of pupils was not coincidental. We wanted pupils from selected classes to mingle and get to know each other. Pupils chose currently popular Slovenian and world wide music with the help of the teacher. Students of both programs spontaneously moved in pairs or alone. In contrary to some other programs, pupils did not exclude anyone.
Music selection:
1. On the beautiful blue Danube, the Viennese Waltz, the classic version with orchestra
2. Na Golici, slovenian folk music, polka,
3. Napoj, by slovenian rock group Sidharta,
4. Despacito, by Luis Fonsi feat. Daddy Yankee, Reaggaeton-pop
5. Slovenija, od kod lepote tvoje, slovenian folk music, waltz
6. Rock me, by Modrijani, a combination of folk and rock music,
7. Račke, a very well known children's song with a specific choreography.

1. Students followed a waltz rhythm of calm classical music. They spontaneously started dancing in couples. Their expressions and posture corresponded to the rules of classical waltz dance.

2. The song Na Golici is a polka, performed by a very renowned slovenian folk ensemble. The song is one of the most recognizable Slovenian folk songs in the world and has various adaptations. This music triggered intense feelings of joy, happiness in students. When they recognised it the mood changed. They often hear this song on  joyful occasions, like on sports competitions, when slovenians are winning. Even students that usually do not include joined the dance (pupils with autism disorder).

3. Pupils danced as a group to the rock song Napoj. Especially older pupils showed enthusiasm, since rock music is closer to teenagers and their sometimes rebellious search for identity.

4. Despacito is a South American hit, popular in Slovenia and exciting to our pupils. They were singing in Spanish and caught the relaxed reggaeton rhythm. The song helped them be creative.

5. Slovenija, od kod lepote tvoje is a popular waltz, which is close to the students. Accordingly to the atmosphere of the song, the mood calmed down.

6. Rock me is a mixture of folk and rock music performed by popular Slovenian folk ensemble Modrijani. Pupils knew the song and had no problems expressing themselves to it. The song is this year's hit and students already heard it on different occasions. Students stressed and dancewise expressed elements of rock and put the folk music elements aside.

7. The song Račke (Ducks) is very well know to students. They were relaxed and danced the very well known choreography to it. The humorous melody and rhythm was attractive to all students. Even students that rarely include in group activities participated. Their mood improved (pupils with autism disorder).
