During the activity "I
gesture-you guess" our youngest students from 1st to 4th grade had the
pleasure of acting, playing and doing pantomime for themselves and for others
who had to do the guessing. They enjoyed it very much. The first grade students
prepared a shadow theatre and you have to do the guessing now! Enjoy!
This is an activity about
dance and music. Our high school students have been working on body expression
to express and provoke emotions. During the last quarter of the year they
worked on the improvisation starting from different musics, stories or objects
to express their emotions through the body. Here you can see the result of the
process.
The fifth short-term joint staff training and learning activity in Osnovna šola dr. Ljudevita Pivka special school from 22 to 26 May 2017 to exchange good practices and improve the quality of their teaching methods.

Our activities:
"WE INCLUDE" - EVENT OF THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF DISABLED
On Friday, December 1, 2017, a gala event organized in honor of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities took place in the gym. December 3rd, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities was declared by the General Assembly of the United Nations in October 1992 with the aim of encouraging an increasing understanding of disability-related issues, the fundamental rights of people with disabilities and the inclusion of people with disabilities in life in the broadest society. People with disabilities represent the most numerous minority group in the world and are the only group whose member can become each of us at any time. According to the World Health Organization, almost 10% of the population, or 650 million people, are disabled, among which more than 60% are between 15 and 64 years of age. Disability affects on average 15-20% of the population of each country. In Slovenia disabled persons are guaranteed entry into the whole system of social and other rights so that they can live in the same way as others.
Among the speakers at the event was the headteacher of the primary school dr. Ljudevita Pivka, mag. Lidija Hamersak Marin, the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Ptuj Mr. Marjan Kolarič and the President of the Project Council at the Association of Disabled Workers of Slovenia, mag. Andrejka Fatur Videtich. The cultural program included: OŠ dr. Ljudevita Pivka, Center for Education Tomislav Špoljar from Varaždin, Olga Meglič Ptuj Elementary School, Sonček - Society for Cerebral Palsy Ptuj-Ormož, Society Sožitje - Intermunicipal Society for the Help of Persons with mental disorders Ptuj, Interdisciplinary Association of Blind and Visually Impaired Ptuj, Association of deaf and hard of hearing Podravje-Ptuj, Association of patients with cerebrovascular disease in Slovenia, Intercommunity Society of Persons with Disabilities Ptuj. The event was presented by Mrs. Nada Kotar.
FAIRYTALE IN PRIMARY SCHOOL LJUDSKI VRT PTUJ
On Friday, December 8, 2017, at the Ljudski vrt elementary school pupils prepared a fairytale hour under the mentorship of teachers Karmen Pulko and Jožica Kozel. The pupils of our school were also invited to the fairytale hour. In the framework of the project "Promoting the social inclusion of children and young people with special needs in the local environment", students of the first and second grade attended hours of fairy tales. In the hour of fairy tales, students of the Ljudski vrt Elementary School presented the fairy tale of Muca copatarica. After completing the fairy tale, children "sewed" slippers in the workshop.
TRADITIONAL SLOVENIAN BREAKFAST AT THE PRIMARY SCHOOL DR. LJUDEVITA PIVKA
All-Slovenian project A traditional Slovenian breakfast is held in order to improve awareness of the purpose and reasons for local self-sufficiency, domestic production and processing. At our school, OŠ dr. Ljudevita Pivka Ptuj, we prepared various activities to emphasize the importance of the farmer as a food producer and a beekeeper who is closely related to agriculture. In the morning, the whole school had breakfast which included local produce. Together we sang the famous Beekeeper song by Lojze Slak. Afterwards, we paid special attention to understanding the importance of having a regular breakfast, physical activity and Slovenian food. In doing so we develop an appropriate attitude towards food and, in the long term, influence our health. Children were eagerly awaiting honey, butter, milk, bread and local apples. We invited a beekeeper from the Beekeeping Association Ptuj, Mr Silvo Božičko. He presented the work of the beekeeper and the bee's life in detail. The children found out what is royal jelly, propolis, beeswax, honeycombs, queen cell, pasture, swarm, hive, worker bee, queen bee, drone and many other terms that are related in one way or another to beekeeping. In the second part, the beekeeper presented some of the tools he uses in his work: a protective hat with a net, a hive, a honeycomb, a queen cell. The bees’ work is very stressful, since it is necessary to collect enough of the nectar from the flowers to fill the honeycomb from which the beekeeper then drains the honey. The children were excited by the work of beekeepers and the busy Kranjska bees.
THE SWITCH-ON OF THE CHRISTMAS LIGHTING
On Friday, December 1st, 2017, the old city centre displayed its festive image. For decorating, only materials that catch and reflect light were used. The event took place in the company of fairy-tale creatures, snowflakes, elves and Aunt Winter. The Choir made up of of the Ptuj's Elementary Schools, which has about 150 singers, sang two songs under the guidance of our choir Conductor, Klementina Mikec Korpič.
PRESENTATION OF THE DAY OF INDEPENDENCE AND UNITY
The stage presentation was put together in the form of a symbolic television program. We named it TV Pivka Ptuj. The hosts, Valerija and Danijel, confidently led us through the interesting program. With the contents of the event, we were able to strengthen the awareness that all Slovenians were a patriotic nation. This has always enabled our existence. With the desire to remain so, we presented the achievements of the Slovenian nation in a series of educational and entertaining performances.
CHRISTMAS
December is the month we all look forward to. The joy is even greater for children, as they are visited by the three good men. And this was exactly what happened on December 21st, 2017, when Santa Claus visited us at school accompanied by Aunt Zima and Elf Matevž. They were summoned by pupils, together with parents and teachers, as they called their names and hoped that they also deserved some gifts this year.
PIVKA'S GOT TALENT
Traditional entertainment show Pivka's got talent was prepared by students of the 9th grade. There were 30 students who presented themselves as singers, instrumentalists and dancers. Everyone was excellent and rewarded by the audience with a loud applause.
It is the last activity from our beautiful Erasmus + project. Our activity included pantomime on two well-known Romanian songs, called “People” and “The tree”. This activity aimed at improving students' non-verbal communication skills, stimulating creativity and managing their own emotions. After their performance, our students had a surprise. Some ballet dancers along with their teacher from Arabesque School Ballet introduced our pupils to the ballet world and danced for us. The ballet is a kind of art in which the narration is done without words. The tools they used were dance and pantomime. Every form of art tells people, through its own means, about human experiences, feelings and events, and the pantomime is one of them. Thus, art is a natural way for the child to relate, collaborate, learn and develop, alongside with the other children. Enjoy the video!
